Will Smith has created a storm of controversy in NYC, due to the sheer size and audacity of his double-decker trailer, a model known as “The Heat”. To start with, Smith was already renting a $25,000-a-month apartment a block from the MIB3 set in Soho. So people’s first reaction is that he is too lazy to walk…

The trailer had to be moved, by order of Mayor Bloomberg, because local residents complained that the trailer was “smelly” and “ridiculous.” One neighbor commented that it was, “like living in a gas station.”

And two s have already proposed legislation regulating the size of film-production vehicles. Currently, there are no limits.

City Council member Peter Vallone Jr. stated “Hardworking New Yorkers have a right to wake up in the morning and not find a cruise ship parked out in front of their house. This is New York, not Hollywood. We don’t roll that way.”

Councilwoman Margaret Chin, the representing SoHo, said: “This is ridiculous. This is abuse. If we don’t do something, the next one will be even bigger.”

The 1,150 square-foot trailer features a full-service kitchen, a 100-inch screen for movies, marble floors, offices for Will’s assistant(s), two bedrooms and a granite bathroom. So basically he could live in it. For all we know, he might finish a scene at 1am and need to be on set at 7am, so perhaps it does serve a purpose. Plus, because it is his own, it means not getting used to a new trailer, every movie.

And BTW, alongside the monster trailer was his 55-foot personal gym trailer!
